Fiction! Only Funeral Homes/Companies can sell cemetery monuments.

For a very competitive price, stand alone monument businesses can price monuments well below the price charged by funeral homes/company. The funeral home/company generally purchases monuments from a monument business. They then mark up the price, unless they have an agreed price or percentage that they pay to the monument business.
Check out MVM for competitive pricing.

Fiction! All grainte no matter where it comes from is the same quality.

No, not all granite no matter where it comes from is the same quality. Granite comes from many different places. Depending on how it cooled and it's composition granite can range from a AAA quality to a commercial quality. Also, granite from the same quarry can range from a higher quality to a lower quality. This difference depends on flaws from contaminates, movement of the liquid granite as it forms, as well as, it's cooling time. There flaws come as the crust, the outer layer cools quicker than the interior portion that is protected by the cooling crust. The cooling crust may crack and cause fishers, thus creating different qualities of granite. Earthquakes and other movements of the earths crush also cause flaws in granite.

Fiction! All grainte is good for monuments, memorials, and counter tops.

Due to it's formation not all granite is good for monuments, memorials, and counter tops. The darker the granite the more dense it is and the more dense it is the stronger and less absorbent it is. The lighter the granite the less dense it is and the more absorbent it is. Any company claiming granite is the same, must declare the location and registration of the granite to verify it's quality. Check it out before purchasing granite for monuments, memorial, and counter tops; it will save you many problems in the future.

Fiction! Granite is always ethically quarried.

No! Granite like all commodities in certain countries use child and slave labor, and/or poorly paid labor to quarry their granite. There are many countries which allow and use very poor working conditions at quarries. 15,000 + quarry and miners are killed (deaths that are reported) each year. (This number may include children). In these countries most times, children are not included in government quarry stats. This number does not include workers who are badly injured in their quarry work each year. See Canadian "Pits and quarries reporting guide."
